Upgraded PC!

hello all! hope u've had a fantastic chinese new year! i must say mine wasn't all that 'blockbuster' coz the atmosphere of joy wasnt getting rather stale. at least it gave me an extended weekend away from HTA.

anyway, today i upgraded my CPU. now im on a 6600GT and i've upped my RAM to 1GB. fun. can play games more smoothly. what really gets on my nerves is that i cannot install FEAR for some strange reason. the setup keeps on crashing! KNN. im really looking forward to this game lor!

oh well... so much for hype. i'll call the shop tmr or sth. ciao!

1st weekend out!

This is my 1st weekend out from the HTA and boy have i looked forward to this! the 10 days in there yielded a melange of feelings. i felt pissed, homesick, excited, tired, lazy and happy in that order. however, one dominating emotion tt i felt was that of yearning; yearning to return to a civilian lifestyle. the realisation that i have passed the point of no return and that i have become a "dog of the government" (as exemplified by the reception of my 11b) overwhelms me. however, im in this shit now so i'll just have to grit my teeth and bear it.

the Physical Training is bearable. i just need to get my fat arse and belly in shape. i doubt i have lost any weight at all. the exercise is indeed tiring. i look at the number of pushups, crunches, runs and whatever-else-they-throw-at-you and i dont think they're that much. and yet i still feel hella tired after each PT session. i hope its because of the accumulated fatigue from each PT session. anyhow, the 1000 skips a day will come next week. jump until my legs break! must eventually do 50,000 PER PERSON before Passing Out Parade (POP). i hope the food served facilitates, rather than counters, this

The food the mess hall dumps at u is very filling. catered by CIAS leh. of course, the food isnt gourmet standard la. there're some days where the i feel damn hungry while marching to the mess and that feeling is completely extinguished when i see the food. for example, there were 2 particular breakfasts which i didnt eat. dry vermicelli in hot soup of some sort. eating the vermicelli is like chewing on hair. knn. but there's one thing in breakfast that is always consistently HELLA-GOOD. it's the teh susu. amazing stuff man. best teh susu i've ever had. i always try to go for 2 cups if i can spare the room.

meals are usually a 4-course affair. the main dish, the dessert (usually a fruit but u get the occasional ice cream), the drink (good cordials) and a soup. i can bearly finish my food coz they really give a lot! then after meals, march back to barracks to shit/sleep/clean bunk. then prepare for whatever's next.

i'll have to treasure my weekends from now on. precious little time to do anything except rest up and perhaps a wee bit of shopping. God will be with me whatever i do and i shall constantly seek His guidance!

adios for now! want to hear story? look for me.

on the eve of police enlistment.

Okay... police enlistment is tomorrow. i'm gonna have an ultra early night now and i hope my body clock will adjust. i'll be back in (hopefully) ten days unscathed and perhaps set on the road to becoming a better man. okay. byebye!

i do hope i havent forgot anything!

2006 and police!

OK it's the year 2006 already. it's now 2 days away from my enlistment into the police. i've officially packed everything and now all that's left to do is to recover from this stupid headache-cum-cold that i'm having now.

i'll be gone for 10 days, after which i'll book out on next friday. i look forward to this experience and i hope that i will take more positives than negatives from it. meanwhile, im gonna try to enjoy my last day of freedom.

till next friday! oh and i think i'll abandon the korea entry. my inefficiency appalls me.

swee lee sale!

Hello. i went to the sweelee 50% sale at bras basah today. the queue was quite mad when i got there at 8.30am to hook up with Jason. it was then that i could experience the ugly kiasuism of singaporeans in all it's "glory". first, when the lady boss of sweelee (at least tt's wad i heard from jason) came to unlock n let herself in, everybody stood up and thot they were gonna be allowed in. i dunno why. we knew that we werent gonna be let in for another 2 hours so i wanted to sit but since everybody was standing and moving forward, i had no choice. so, i ended up standing until i was let in. as we were standing around, the number of ppl in front of us then swelled to around 50 or 60 after standing up. when i got there, i estimated only 20 pple were ahead of me. a huge number of queue cutters and freeloaders sia. at least i go early, got morals.

once inside, i headed straight for the cymbal section. picked up a 14" HH thin crash and a premier cymbal bag. bill came up to $196.50. cheap sia. the blardy queue was damn long so i had to wait. joined a shorter cashier queue but the cashing process damn was slow coz some of the stock had either poor or confusing labeling. then went to buy some stuff for yuehao. met up with isaac outside and went to ranking to buy my cymbal stands
ended up with 1 carlos boom and 1 gibraltar straight for $60 each. the gibraltar was a good buy coz it's usually around 100. ranking prices always best even tho their stuff can be a bit lousy. but it's THE place for pedals man. DWs! had lunch and then did some bangla work for daniel in terms of helping him move his drum set before going home to set up with isaac.

ok gtg. im dazed from all that activity. tmr's the "class buffet" at Pete's Place at Hyatt. looking forward to it. adios!

X'mas is over...

Whoa! Christmas came and went in a flash! i rmb spending x'mas eve shopping with little fruition except for Call of Duty 2, then chionging cards at night after x'mas eve service. then x'mas day was kinda fast too. the flurry of card-distribution and gift exchange after service was like being stuck in little india on a public holiday. i managed to dish out all my cards save for 1.

been slacking since then. went out to watch narnia with isaac yesterday. it was a good-but-not-great movie. maybe it was a good thing i haven't read the book coz otherwise i wld've found the movie bad. the movie finished at 9 and we had to hustle up some grub. so we, rather stupidly, ended up eating at macdonald's at taka coz there was nowhere else to eat that was under $10 n suited our tastebuds. we buy, sit down and less than halfway into our meal, the taka security guard came to tell us that they were closing up. sia la... mac's shldn't have sold us the meal for sit-in lor. i know they just want our money. basts.

okay... korea part 2 will come another day. gtg now. it's gonna be a hectic 3 days ahead.

Korea - part 1

ok i'm gonna attempt to recount the past 7 days in korea in this entry. of course, it can all be summarized in 3 words; cold, fun and disappointing, in that order. hahah~ i travelled with my family and cousins. so the 10 of us formed this little posse which always had 1 big bus to ourselves! ok here goes!

we landed in seoul/incheon around 7am and we made our way to Gimpo immediately after meeting our guide and answering nature's call. at incheon, we had some noodles to eat at this place queerly named "welly&". the exchange rate was 1000won to SGD$1.65 and 1 bowl of kimchi noodes at 10,000won was a sign of things to come. that's $16.50 for u. knn. ANYWAY, at Gimpo, we caught a 1hr domestic flight to Jeju island. it was damn bloody cold there! what we saw in our 2 days there was breathtaking scenery and a few really touristy locales. we visited the green tea factory, a traditional jeju village (where da chang jing was filmed), some seaside place where there were natural oblong-shaped basalt rock formations, another seaside place with a church that was supposed to have mysteriously sprung up in 1 week and the place which had this slope which things disobeyed gravity and rolled uphill. i cant remember the rest. all i remember is that the lack of additional bottom section insulation made me feel really cold and miserable at times. overall, jeju island was really picturesque. oh, we experienced snowfall in both days we were there. it was really nice to see it but not nice to feel the icy bits land on your face.

we left jeju island on saturday and took another domestic flight back to seoul, where e 1st stop was nami island, the place where one of the most memorable scenes of winter sonata was filmed. i tell u, i have seen bae yong jun so many times in korea that i got thoroughly sick of him already. i see from 'good looking' to 'ordinary'. seems like he has only 1 look about him. anyway, nami island was seriously picturesque too! no wonder the winter sonata pple chose that place to film some of the scenes. of course, the commercialization was also evident in the shameless milking of the winter sonata vehicle via souvenir shops and posters pasted all over the place. seriously see until sian.

after that, it was a long coach ride to phoenix park. shall blog on about that later. got stuff to do now!

back from korea!

okay i'm back from Korea! it's a blardy cold place now but i reckon that part of the world is. temperatures hovering around 0 deg celcius! shall blog more about it later. am very tired now. good night!

Sheldon did this load of crap on 2005-12-23 at 1:42 a.m.

yay korea!

at long last! my trip to S.Korea is 100% on. it has been see-sawing for the past 2 weeks due to quite irritating factors. firstly, the pilots of the airline we were supposed to fly on went on a blardy strike. so it threw the holiday plans of many into limbo, my family's included. we considered flying to Japan instead but the price of it turned us off 180degrees. $4000 more than what we had to pay for the korean trip. would blow a huge hole in our pockets! after about 3 days in limbo, e strike was finally put down by the S.Korean govt. yay for us! i wonder how much is their wages coz i hear that the pilot strike happens kinda often. they must have some valid reason to strike! anyhow, i'm leaving on friday at 12.15am. will be away till next wednesday i think. before x'mas la!

today i went out with daryl and ian. we did some illegal activity at bedok before going to town to play pool at Mambo. after that, i went x'mas shopping in taka. managed to come away with only 1 person's gift. shall write cards while im in Seoul then. sheesh it's darned hard to buy really good x'mas presents coz i hardly have a clue of what my friends wld need and not find redundant.

well im darned tired. gonna sleep now. night!

LTC '05

wah ok long time no blog! i got back from LTC (also known as MAD camp)at NaCLI yesterday and it was a blast! the camp numbers were kinda small so there was a good ratio of about 1 mentor to 3 mentees (pardon my lang), which was kinda cosy and more personal. day one was kinda mad for me. reached buona vista mrt arnd 820am to see about 10-odd campers already there, playing daidee. so i joined them for a couple of games to try and beat off e sleepy flies. the 1st half of the day kinda passed really quickly coz i was either daydreaming or doing bhangra jobs (shall further elaborate on this later).

i started to learn dancing from shane during the breaks. damn fun la! it got really mad on e 2nd night and we managed to come up with a really short routine too! isaac had popped by then and we came up with a little dance routine to wish clarissa happy birthday b4 midnight in her bunk. as a result, i have signed up for dance alongside the worship band in the new-look One Voice today. wah there are plenty of new recruits today. i hope things will look peachy!

i digress. i was really sleepy during some of the workshops coz i had, on average, 5 hours of sleep per night there. the fact that 1 hour of shut-eye prior to that din help. yes, i watched ManU lose to Benfica and exit Europe, but that is a thing i dont wanna talk about. i found myself nodding off during some of the workshops. sigh.

ok now about the bhangra thing. me, graham, shane, bertrand, natpang, nicholas, jocelyn and euniceteo were chosen by ber to form a "sub-commitee" to understudy the organising comm. we later found out that it was somewhat a euphemism for "sai kang kia". we had to clean up the main hall, set up games stations, escort the campers to lunch and dinner, prepare breakfast, wake up the campers, enforce lights out and ensure campers' safety. each of us was also assigned a specific role. my role was to come up with 'energizers', which are activities conducted to wake up the campers from any induced stupors. i was assisted by graham (who unfortunately nvr came coz he had SHATEC exam), eunice was medic, shane was prayer i/c, nic was worship i/c, jocelyn camera-lady and bert became electronics guy. after the 1st night, we got a promotion! we were coolies. on the 2nd night, we were promoted to domestic workers while 3 among us were elevated to "hero" coz they were part of the advance party the next day sent out along with isaac and daryl.

on the whole, the camp was really fun and it set me aflame for God again. i've came upon a decision to let God take control of my life and i shall follow where He leads. i pray i'll continue to have this fire forever!

ok gtg now. play doom3. must complete it!

what a night!

what a night! experienced a few "firsts" tonight. went out with ian and weiting for dinner, clubbing and an observation of Louis Tan's gig. let me start at the beginning.

i met up with ian and weiting at 6 at city hall. we proceeded to Ritz to get the tickets for the post prom bash at the Nude Bar at Wisma Atria. the Ritz is an amazingly posh place la! 6 stars well justified. some girls were really hot while others (actually one) were kinda ghastly! got this girl called grace that wore some weird black corset top, a barely-there black skirt, fishnet stockings and rebonded hair. ghastly. went to fish&co for dinner after much debate. we spent about half and hour running around trying to get to suntec city. it was quite stupid in retrospect coz we could've easily walked thru marina square to the pan pacific side first. but we didnt. instead, we walked down to street level and attempted to cross the road. of course, we didnt succeed in finding an opening big enough for us to cross. so we spent time getting lost in the "under construction" side of marina square.

Dinner was all good. Ian kept getting his kola tonic free-flow's worth. i think he downed 6 glasses? after dinner, we all slowly walked back to Ritz (the right way now!) to watch Louis Tan on the drums. 1st time i see him and he was phenomenal. he can play with sublime tonal control for everything. really killer. the 3 piece band (piano, electric bass and drums) churned out great sounding jazz, latin and fusion music. oh they did a version of the Fur Elise which was really damn power. it was quite a nice surprise to see Graham's dad there. he was with his cousin and Choti. Louis Tan treated us to a drink, which was really nice of him! i wanna go back and watch again. the drinks were damn nice tho expensive. i ordered a frozen daiquiri while weiting had a coco jambo and ian had an iced passion fruit tea. the cocktails were great but i tot the coco jambo was exceptional. kahlua, bailey's and some other creamy thing. it was creamy and chocolatey, which was really palatable. but ian's iced tea was the best. they gave him 3 glasses. the passion fruit juice, tea and ice cubes were in 3 separate glasses. u have to pour the tea and passion fruit juice into the glass with the ice cubes. the ice cubes were actually cubes of frozen tea! ian says its the most zai tea he has ever had. i'd have to agree coz when the waitress layed it down on the table, my 1st thought was "wtf is this?" and Weiting went "eh u gotta ask them how the heck do you drink this?". i noticed the adjacent tables ordered coffee and they actually give them to u in the pot! hot tea too! they have the candle warmers and they set the teapots on it. no wonder they cost so bloody much. money worth paying. we left the place at 11.30pm.

reached Nude Bar at Wisma around midnight. we thought we were late but when we got inside, it was less than half full and the dance floor was empty! it only got grooving around 1am and that was when i finally got to hit the floor. the dancing itself wasn't that fantastic. mainly because it was damn bloody crowded and hot. and RnB wasn't that great to dance to. then again, im a completed n00b at it so yeah... i had 2 beers and a brandy. didnt get me high. haha... anyway, it was all good and i left the place around 2.30am. my ears were ringing when i left the place. me and ian sat on the metal railing waiting for weiting to coming out. i notice that those who exited after us looked like they stepped out of a sauna. and ian was talking to his friend who was like 5m away from him and he was shouting. that was the extent of our deafness! we 3 shared a cab home and that was it.

looking back, clubbing can only be done, to me at least, once a month la... depends on mood too. i'll definitely be back at the Ritz again. gtg now. byebye!

cafe cartel and my spiritual gifts!

Finally got to play pool today. Skills were somewhat rusty. but what was really evident was my shot inconsistency. some of my shots can be really good while i'd miss some really simple shots.

had Cafe Cartel for dinner. the amount of food both Isaac and me guzzled down wasn't that great but it was sufficient to make me feel very uncomfortable. we ordered a Southern Cutlet and a St Louis Pork Ribs, both topped up with set meals. the portions were surprisingly larger. the chefs were more generous than usual this time. shit i feel damn guilty now. haha...

Life group was okay. did the Spiritual Gift survey. the last time i took it was during 17up retreat earlier this year. man that was hella long ago. my current gifts are Faith, Service/Helps and Exhortation in that order. they didnt change much compared to the last time i did it and at least no more such thing as 4 qualities tying for 3rd spot or sth liddat. haha...

ok tmr's the Senior vs Junior match. hope i dont embarrass myself. as far as i know, i'll be playing last man. i'll show that Tan Yew Hwee that he made a mistake leaving me out. resentment still burns!

LOTR and the Goblet of Fire

okay i finally finished watching the Lord of The Rings trilogy. it was 3 great movies and the storyline was, although lengthy and sometimes downright dreary, solid. the battles had tonnes of (typical) Hollywood fluff tho. u just wonder how many pple died and how come they managed to conjure up so many men just to be cut up. amazing trilogy. watched them until my eyes and butt hurt. some parts amused me. like the scene when Elrond said "welcome to Rivendell" to Frodo. i half expected him to say "Mr Baggins. Surprised to see you." like Agent Smith. the guy that played Elrond played Agent Smith. i tot the way the king of Gondor, Boromir and Faramir's father, died was kinda funny. fell off the top of Minas Tirith like some moltres (if u played Pokemon).

i watched Harry Potter : the Goblet of Fire today with my bro and sis. the first movie ever that made me wanna leave the theatre. i was wide awake wishing i could fall asleep! not that it was boring. it was just uninteresting to me. the book was waaay better than the movie. granted, some parts were nice and all but it just wasn't enough for me. i might swear off watching future harry potter films... the 1st task was too long and i dont remember Harry falling off his Firebolt. and there was no conspicuous scoring system for the Triwizard tournament. he wasnt even given his 1000 galleons for winning (which he was supposed to have given to Fred and George)! the rock/metal band playing at the Yule ball was also damn funny. the 1st song they played had extremely cheesy lyrics! "can ya dance like a Hippogriff? nananana"... WTF?

that's it for now. i'm going off now!

Manchester United 0 Villarreal 0 (FT)

I woke up at 2pm again today. why? i wasted my time watching ManU slog to a 0-0 draw with Villarreal despite ManU fielding the same side that beat Chelsea. in the 1st 10mins, ManU were undoubtedly fantastic. one-touch flicks and passes tore through the Villarreal midfield. Rooney's touches are amazing! I felt that ManU should really have gotten a goal during that few minutes of havoc. the rest of the match dragged on with ManU managing to reach the area outside of villarreal's box but not ending in a clear chance. only half chances were created. the midfield duo of Scholes and Smith once again seemed to lack purpose. they cheaply conceded possession like it was some pasar malam and made shoddy tackles. they're good players without a doubt and some moves they performed today were good stuff. BUT u can forget about describing them as worldclass. ManU need a better centre midfield! not like it really mattered here as Villarreal's midfield wasnt strong. the absence of a good final ball and better understanding resulted in this scoreline. i just hope its not back to the pre-Chelsea-win era...

ok i watched the 2 Towers already... next up is the Return of the King. tata!

Sheldon did this load of crap on 2005-11-23 at 10:28 p.m.

rainy sia!

Wah today was entirely a rainy day. irritating weather. dampened my mood (pardon the pun). went to chris' church to help him change n tune his drum skins and clean the set. zion gospel mission at jalan lokam was kinda cosy and secluded. its a small church and is actually situated at 1st floor of a row of showhouse-esque buildings. e drums are an ancient tama rockstar. every metal bit was heavily oxidised but not rusted. i like the cymbal range tho. all old sabian HHXs and AAs. not shiny but not even stained! lol.. ok so we spent about 3 hours doing the work and when we were done, the drums had a much nicer sound to it tho it wasnt that fantastic yet.

we went to the city hall area after that. there was a book fair going on at bras basah so i decided to browse for little gems and i made off with 3 books for $10. Dune: House Harkonnen, Michael Crichton's Airframe and Sidney Sheldon's Bloodline. the michael crichton one was actually chosen to make up numbers so i could get 3 for $10. hahaha... i just started on Bloodline and i covered about 3 chapters already. wah... Sidney Sheldon's good. gripping writing style! haha... i also bought a music stand so i can prop up my scores when playing. $12 from ranking. cheap! oh and i went to drool at the Pearl EXR which was on display at swee lee. next dec, it'll be in my room.

started scouting for buffet venues. the ritz one looks attractive. the one on the 8th floor of the swissotel looks promising too. and the hotel intercon's international buffet also quite good. haha actually that was all i saw. gonna check out the meritus mandarin and grand hyatt's later this week.

kudos to victoria for lending me her LOTR: two towers dvd!

LOTR: Fellowship of the ring was ok la. the dialogue at some parts were almost illegible. they like to whisper lots. irritating. i cant find the Two Towers so it looks like i'll have to borrow them! haha...

ok off i go...

room cleared

i've finally cleared up my room and threw away 3 bagfulls of rubbish. notes, used exercise books, old tutorials and all other paraphernalia from my school days up to now are gone. ok i kept the entry proofs. haha! i junked plenty of stuff too. my old headphones, quite a few CDs more than 3 years old and other miscellenea i dug up from my cupboards and drawers.

i've been practicing my rudiments, learning to read my bass scores and watching loads of soccer for the past few days. shit man i've become so blardy unfit that i think i've begun to suffer health problems. hopefully i'll have some vestige of fitness by the time i go into the police force.

speaking of the police force, it's quite a period of uncertainty for me because i have no idea about what im in for. there's only gonna be 1 familiar face in the form of zeya. nvm la... can make friends one!

ok tmr's programme is to watch the entire LOTR series end to end. it's about high time i watch it. YES i HAVENT watched the LOTR trilogy and NO i've not been on mars or some other dimension. just some cockup place...

ok gtg now. slept roughly 5 hours for each of the past 3 nights. i dunno why i've been sleeping so little but it's been enough for the day. oh well... my body must be metabolising the fats! haha...

THE A'S ARE OVER!

YES THE A LEVELS ARE OVERRRRR!!! wahahaha now it's time to PAHTAAAAY!!!

ok so here's a short entry to summarise my A levels. it all started with Maths 1 and 2. these 2 papers were a relative breeze compared to the later ones. i reckon an A wld be in the bag. GP was a slow torture. luckily i had some examples to guide me thru the essay. the compre was a bit odd but the questions seemed ok. the AQ was very different from what i was exposed to for the whole 2 years. ok i have a mental block for what it is about now. darn. ok anyway phys paper 1 was a breeze but i struggled a bit for paper 2. some questions were kinda difficult. ok and for econs paper 3, it was kinda scary as my essays were actually kinda short. the questions didn't have much fodder for writing and my i only came up to 2 pages. shit i hope i can at least pass this. physics paper 3 was horrendous. lucky my physics of fluids was ok. section was damned scary. there were so many parts which i had to stagger through. econs paper 1 was another traumatic paper. hard. a few really tricky questions whose correct answer seemed to not exist. i hope i can get something close to 25 for this. i completely crapped my way through econs paper 2. haha... had stuff to write tho so i hope i can, at the very least, pass this paper.

verdict: thank God it's over. i hope phys can get A even tho that seems to be a distant dream. a C for econs would greatly satisfy me.

haha ok i've gotta redo this blog's layout. it's been this pink for a very very long time. i'll need to look for templates. hmm maybe i'll employ faith to help! hahah... ok gtg now... need to sort out my entire wardrobe. adios!

Man Utd 1 Chelsea 0

ok it's the day before my As and i just woke up after watching one helluva good EPL game. ManU hosted Chelsea at OT. amazing game. very fast paced, great skills on show. ManU suddenly play with lots of fire and they were pretty tight on chelsea. didn't allow the blues to settle. the fighting spirit, sorely absent in the past 3 games at least, came back. 11 match winners? perhaps! haha...

but i have to agree with some of Roy Keane's sayings. O'Shea is a better fullback, offensively. at times, his defending can be pretty jittery. but he can go forward really well, beating the opposite fullback and putting in a cross. Fletcher, the scorer, is a one-legged player. he does everything on his right foot, which can be rather irritating coz he takes time to shift the ball across to his right. and sometimes, he does things which make me go "wtf are u doing?". oh well, it was one really great performance from manu. full of hard running and they made chelsea work for the ball. i bet they were going, "sia la, nobody made us work this hard before. i'm not used to it". i noted that william gallas and makelele are damn bloody fast. cristiano ronaldo's attempts to push and run past them were rather fruitless.

oh well u can read up the highlights at soccernet or football365.com if ur interested. tmr's my 1st A level paper. it's the beginning. i pray i won't cock up. God-willing, I WILL DO IT!

Prego!

i just went to prego for dinner with my family. it was AWESOME! the pasta and pizza were fantastically good! for pasta, we ordered carbonara, some red macaroni with chicken and the one with oysters and mussels. we ordered 2 pizzas, the veneta and the prego. all the dishes were amazing but i stayed off the the seafood one. the carbonara was amazingly creamy. 3 mouthfuls were more than enough. the red macaroni was superb! i asked for that because i had no idea what else to order and the description seemed sane enough. hehe... the pizzas were done with great balance. what i found strange was the presence of some green leafy herb(?) on the prego. but that was good with the olive oil. interesting bottle of olive oil and vinegar if u ask me. 2 in one with the vinegar inside the olive oil.

haagen dasz was up next. the pana cotta or sth liddat was kinda funny. strawberry sorbet and the raspberry swirl with some cake cubes and 2 choc stix. liddat also $8. lucky my dad had a triple scoop free, if not we won't be having it at all.

ok i'm gonna do some memorizing before going to bed. good night!

wow last night was some night! i went to watch Simon Phillips' drum clinic at the Singapore Power Auditorium and i learnt quite a bit of stuff. it's really phenomenal to see such speed, technique and skill in the flesh. still more different, and much more enthralling, than watching them videos on drummerworld.com. he can play all the rudiments more than 4 times faster than i can. his 8-count paradiddle is my max already. and when he demonstrates, it's damn bloody fast and even, all in single strokes. then he double times it, still single. and again. madness. that's the standard i want to reach. sad to say it won't come for at least another 10 years, or more. he's been playing drums for 45 years!

i saw big names in the Singapore scene like Choti, Tama Goh, Louis (spelling?) Tan and others whose names i weren't familiar with. all killer drummers. even graham's cousin, andre, is also a solid one. i came home with a zildjian poster and his autograph on my ticket. power...

met daryl, isaac and ahdes for dinner at subway at orchard towers. then went harrys's. got conned into buying a half-pint of heineken which cost me $10. damn it la. the music was good nevertheless. watched Pires score the equaliser at spurs (boo) and lampard, drogba and bellamy score at the spurs game. took a taxi home, another big blow to my pocket. must scrimp next week while on study camp in school!

ok then i got home, watched the chelsea game (which ended 4-2) and then the boro - manu game. it was a total sham. 4-1! most of the manU team played like shit. felt like slapping all of them. Ferdinand looked like some bungling fool the way he defended against Yakubu & Hasselbaink. Scholes deserved a slapping the way he dwelled on the ball so often, losing it most of the time, effectively ending a united move. the was a despairing lack of coverage in the centre of the park and it was really maddening to see mendieta and rochembak with so much space. bardsley, o'shea and richardson looked like bewildered men when defending their own corners of the field near the box. ruud is just playing like a shit striker now. he can't do any of the flick-ons which shearer can do so well. he cant hold up the ball very well, can't dribble and his finishing's going down the drain. shocking he's 2nd on the EPL top-scorer list! the rest of the manu team, barring rooney and ronaldo, lacked the desire and tenacity to try to get hold of the game. i fully agree with what the commentators said about the team 'not doing enough'. everything went wrong today. and while there was their 1000th goal scored, only the scorer deserved it. boro should've kept their clean sheet and manu should have their faces redder. all of them better wake up. can't believe it.

sigh.. what a night...

Constable (?) Sheldon

Okay i got my enlistment letter already and my fears of a january intake are confirmed. i'm going to report in on 10 Jan. but guess what? it's not Tekong! it's at the Police Academy! lol... God is great! it's gonna be less difficult than army life from what i've heard and i can go home everyday! haha... and perhaps i may even not need to shave my head. to my knowledge, the odds of going police for NS is relatively low. this means one thing; God has a purpose in putting me there. so i'll just wait and see how God's master plan plays out. he put me in VJ for a reason too (and i haven't found that out) and i'm eternally grateful!

Farewell assembly was last friday. it was kinda nice of my school to give all of us ice creams. i had 3 servings in the end because some classmates were absent and others didn't want any. haha, i suppose you can call me greedy! looking back, VJ life wasnt exactly a walk in the park but i suppose it could've been worse for me elsewhere. i'm really grateful to be in VJ altho i tend to whine about it at times. i'm grateful for my class, which sadly i took so long to integrate into, and my stint with the soccer team. being in the soccer team taught me how things don't always work out in life tho u try your best. i made friends and became the best soccer player i could be there. it's such a pity i had to be so performance-concious all the time. i wished i was part of VJ for the 1st 3 mths. then i'd have enjoyed orientation and perhaps gotten to know lots more people in the process. VJC is a great school to be in. i'll miss my JC days (tho not as much as my SJI days). funny i rmb more abt mugging in VJ than anything else.

God, you have been great to me. My life is yours! All praise to you God!

Prelims results

okay prelim results are out and i cant say im not satisfied with them. GP was the only sub that inspired "&$^%#" reactions.

GP ------ 49 --- D7
Maths --- 76 --- A
Physics - 66 --- B
Econs --- 44 --- O

I'm not 100% sure for econs but that's kinda what i get based on % only.

it's back to mugging nowadays. sian. gtg. ciao!

10 day holiday gone...

ok so my my 10 day holiday is finally drawing to a close. its back to school tomorrow; back to the grindstone which i have been working at for the past 12 years. i have been hearing that we will get all our results back tomorrow. i hope i don't do too badly. if not, i'll be very pissed.

ok the past 3 weekdays gone were kind of mundane. i watched 2 movies and jammed. on monday, i went out wiv tianying and caught nightwatch. the movie was good. pretty dark and painful at times but at least it was more 'zai' than hollywood shite. the pre-ending is a BIT lame and the ending is, well, not exactly happy-ever-after. on tuesday, i was out with mich. we watch 'a bittersweet life'. with korean productions, u'd expect cheesy romances between hot hunks and cute girls. this movie is hardly that. lotsa fighting, shooting and (definitely) bloodshed, most of it being rather pointless. mich had her eyes closed most of it. maybe coz of the killings. haha... i would've fallen asleep if not for the loud bangs and screams of pain. its plot cannot be described as 'paper thin'. that's an exaggeration. haha... anyway, i met mel to play pool after that. mich had to go for her class dinner at sara's house. pool was ok too. made a huge bundle of mistakes and was mostly charitable (gave away too many free balls). mel's goooood! haha...

today, i jammed with sam wee and isaac. the 2 hours were really good. we could click to a certain extent. this was my 1st time jamming with sam and i found him to be really good. he knows his stuff and i learnt much. im still very much a rookie drummer whose skills are still unrefined. more polishing is needed. im very new in the 'band dynamics' aspect. not that i dont know what to do. i just dont know how to blend with the bassist appropriately yet. and my consistency isnt really there too. well... PRACTICE!

i gtg now. it's been a great 10 day holiday. tmr's results day. i hope to be in sane spirits tmr. will try to blog again before descending into muggerdom. -sigh- stupid education system. heaps plenty of stress on us innocent young students.

4 days of soccer...

okay i've just gone through 4 consecutive days of moderately competitive soccer. experiences and performances ranged from absolute crap to dominant. lemme go through them in chronological order.

1st time i was back kicking a ball in almost 2 months was on thursday morning. it was with isaac's homeboys at the millenium court. i was a total mess for the first 30mins or so. couldnt pass, trap, run, tackle or shoot at all. everything went off and awry. and my match fitness went down the drain too. couldnt cover as much ground as the last time i played. absolute rubbish. but i actually managed to score! a fluke la. credit to hong jing (hope i spelt it right) for laying it across for me to slot into an empty goal after some passes being exchanged around. rating: 5 / 10. improved somewhat after a short break. if i continued e way i played for e 1st bit, it'd be 3.

on friday evening, i played with my SJI schoolmates. it was really great seeing some of them again and we had a good game of 5 v 5. pity the pitch was soft. it gave lofted passes a greater tendency to skid and a few chances went begging because of that. i spent most of 2nd "half" walking around coz i just had this high inertia in me. for the 2nd half, hafiz was on my side and when he played last man, i'd move up into centre mid. but not many passes came to me although i tried to make some space. rating: 6.5/10. i was supposedly a key player but i just didnt live up to the tag, if there was any. some of my passes were crisp tho others were kind of horrendous. it's kinda evident now my work rate has taken a huge dip.

saturday morning came with both legs aching. my back hurt and my smallest toes were sore from my nike First Touch usage on thursday. my VJ pals came to millenium court to play and we dominated all e other 3 teams that came by to play against us. it was "king of the hill" style and 1 goal wins a game. we conceded 2 goals in total that morning; the first after some unsporting behavior from the opposition. i got winded from a flying butt to the midsection and they poked the ball in from more than halfway out altho i was making my way out of the court to be substituted. i heard norman made some kind of cock pass that got intercepted and that was how we conceded it. still, they should've at least paused the game. 2nd goal came about 2 hours later when we were up against their "best of the best". we were 3 - 0 up and it was the last goal before we called it a day. a bit of a defensive fracas on our part before they scored. rating : 8 / 10. I had a decent game as right back for awhile before being shifted to last man, then right back again, striker(!) for a moment and back to right back. i was kinda useless as a striker tho. didn't have any diagonal runs. 8 because i was steady tho not outstanding. my work rate was automatically boosted due to the presence of all my guys around me. i just tend to run more when i play with my present schoolmates.

Today, Sunday, was a day which involved one helluva heavy lunch. Jack's place (ok fine it aint tt fantastic) followed a free double scoop of haagen dasz ice cream. shiok. soccer after church was not good. 4 v 5 on e usual grass patch was a bit crazy. i wonder what happened to all the regulars sia. the uncles stopped coming after the stupid pair of insolent mats decided to crash our game. now we get dismal numbers. sian. a rating for this performance is a waste of my time.

i watched Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children today! kudos to ahdes for passing it to me. it really is a damn bloody good movie. pity i have not much dough to burn. if not i'd buy the DVD and whatever nonsense that comes with it. TIFA LOCKHART IS ONE HELLUVA HOT BABE!! EYE CANDYYYYYYY!!! *swoon*

lol! was rather uncharacteristic of me there. anyway, i've been saying weird things of late. i hope im not growing senile. it kinda freaks me when i think about how i'll look/be like in 10, 20 and 30 years time. hunchbacked, wrinkly, wheelchair bound, single, short sighted, not right with God, friendless... the list goes on. my funny back makes the wheelchair bound issue a possibility. sigh. see what my brain thinks of when i've nth to do? worry worry...

nvm tifa is still a hot babe. night!ache in my leg, blister on my toe, away u both must go.

2 days of slacking thus far.

hello all. it's my 2nd day of no mug and school. haha so far so slack. ok did some stuff for the past 2 days which i shall elaborate on now.

yesterday, i went jamming wiv isaac, daryl and zikai. 2 hours of jamming was kinda fun altho it could be much better if we had a common goal and a few common songs to work towards. but i had fun. went to orchard to walk around and eat dinner wiv isaac. i missed NYDC and i finally had my fix, tho it wasnt really tops on my list. wah... had a butch encounter. din noe she was a female till we heard the voice. sia la... scary... she was 2 tables away and the (all girls) table adjacent to her's had an obvious reaction when they saw her. they got stunned into silence. when i pointed her out to isaac, he was like "what the f***". almost lost appetite sia. hahaha... thank God for aunty Karen. she fetched me home. last night had really high lightning activity and i happened to be very near it. freaky. but my negligence outdid itself this time and i left my stick bag in their car.

today, i went drum shop scouting with graham. from Excel Music and Sports (tannery lane) to Swee Lee Music (sims drive) to Excelsior Hotel basement. from 11 to 5. haha... i brought back quite a few catalogues. oh i bought a new pair of 5A sticks and the Iron Maiden "greatest hits" CD from gramophone. no regrets about both purchases! haha... oh G2000 had a warehouse sale near tannery lane. saw a neat blazer which was only $79. i tried it on and i tot i looked rather good in it. maybe i'll get it if my father's blazers dont fit or look good on me. wah DW entry level drums are $7000 la... looks like its gonna be a LOOOOONG time before i actually begin to consider buying one. need to ensure my skills justify buying it in the first place! oh got this new drum shop in excelsior hotel. sells istanbul cymbals, which sound fantastic for their price range. i may consider getting one as a right-side crash. wait till the proprietor sets up completely. e shop stocks a new brand of sticks with really funny grips. got one pair which had a wood end and a whip end. i may consider buying it. looks versatile. but the shop sells quite a few 2nd hand stuff tho. got one iron cobra hi-hat stand going for $250.

oh i worked out for the 1st time in 1 and a half months today. wah... jialat... i couldnt run non-stop for 10mins. and my back felt like splitting in 2. seriously. i did some push ups and the pain felt while trying to get up turned my limbs to jelly. i think im getting old. now begins the loooong trek back up the fitness mountain. sia la... really in a pathetic state of fitness now.

ok gtg. fingers had enuff of blogging. ciao!

PRELIMS ARE OVER!!!

and what comes next? A TEN day break!!! hahahaha

ok econs paper 3 was indeed one helluva embarrassment. din finish a whole essay part and i smoked thru one. everything was off.

maths paper 2 was quite good. i dropped a few marks here and there tho. i think i got a shot at an A if all goes well tho im not banking too much on it.

today was phys paper 3, econs 1 and 2. phys paper 3 went well. i din manage to finish it tho. i'll be happy to get around 70 odd for this paper.

econs 1 was cock. hahahaha... lol. i finished it in half an hour and i hope it was coz i was more like pro than ignorant of tt stuff. econs 2 was ok la. talked a lot of cock sia.

Post-mortem:
Maths : can scrape an A if all goes well.

Phys: sure pass but i hope its decent.

Econs: failure looks a realistic possibility and i hope its not that bad tho.

GP sux

Hello all! I'm 4 days into my study break now and 1 prelim paper's already down the drain. GP was a poorly directed horror show at best. My essay question was the one about fishing. To be precise, it's "Giving a man a fish is the best way to cure poverty. Discuss." Or some shite like that. Anyway, I wrote what "giving a man a fish" was; welfare. And I went on about how it was effective only in the short run and it must be coupled with education in the long run so that poverty can be truly stamped out. Doesn't sound that bad right? But no (drag the 'o' syllable). my language mark will be appallingly low because my usage of linguistics and vocabularly, although reasonably adept, cannot be considered outstanding enough to match my regular level. In sporting terms, i was terribly off form. And I forgot to add that poverty is a relative issue and one man's pauper may be another man's nobility. haha that may have came off pretty awkward but oh well *shrugx*.

GP compre was another fracas in its own. My brain decided to abandon efficiency and i actually spent half an hour on the first 4 questions! I actually knocked myself in the head a few times because I was beginning to stop focussing on the paper unconsciously, which is hazardous to good (in this case acceptable) grades. overall, I think my GP is, most optimistically, a C5. that is how amazingly crappy I thought I had done. *shakes head* die liao la.

Ok so these few days of hard mugging, coupled with my constant book-hitting over the past couple of months, has taken its toll on my body. the cumulative effect of excess baggage around my waist, persistent migraines and pimples annoy me. to top it off, my nose has been running for the past half a day. sickening. i hope it's more of the weather's fault then mine coz I haven't exercised for over 2 weeks already! *cringe* how i miss soccer. my legs get itchy very often, and its not because my leg hair's of considerable length. it's during times like these when I guess I'll have to really depend on the strength of God to carry me through.

Speaking of spirituality, I have drifted rather far from God already. It's been awhile since I last read the bible and prayers aren't the "sit down and pray" type but rather just a few sentences here and there. I hope to get back on track soon, 'cause GOD I NEED YOU! I led worship the past Sunday and PMC YM was treated to my brand of aural stimulation (read poor singing). but on the whole it wasn't that bad. one HUGE problem I had noticed was that I wasn't fully concentrated (if at all) on praising God. I was full-on about the technicalities and in retrospect, that's worrying. I hope future small group leaders won't fall into this trap. of course, jam was hell too. wasted 3 plus hours coz i was dumb enough to NOT bring chords, among many other reasons. *sigh*

I've begun planning for my next drum kit. I've decided on the Peart EXR. I may or may not sell off my stagestar to finance the purchase because I'm toying with the idea of a double bass drum set. I'll definitely need at least 2 more crashes, new hi-hats, a picolo or similar-use snare and more hardware. projected time when i could afford all this would be towards the end of my first year in army, when i've saved up enough. i'll need skins too. i'm eyeing the evans ebony pinstripes for my toms. haven't scouted enough on the base drum. in the meantime, PRACTICE.

i guess that's enough for now. I gtg eat dinner and mug. adios people! and PUH-LEEZE TAG!

mugging sux

whoa.... mugging is such a chore! i've gone thru e whole maths and physics syllabi. now's its e job of securing the grades. attempted a math paper today and i got quite a lot wrong, which means i dun rmb wad i mugged thru properly. sianed. haha...

e stupid show's over for e past 3 days already. wad a dumb "ending" it had. now got some cool wuxia stuff.

ok i've been practicing rudiments too. on of my left knuckle joints broke and never healed properly. it hampers my speed to some degree. hopefully practice will help me overcome tt. i've been watching a few short clips of various drum clinics and all of what they teach are just simply mad, especially's the buddy rich stick trick. damn fast. the foot and hand roll not so bad but the speed and clarity's hard to get. have to keep practicing!

ok go bathe now. then sleep. adios!

that 7pm show

i have to say something about that 7pm show abt some household which owns a fishball factory. i tell you, everything about that stupid show annoys me to hell. i cant stand the spastic nonsensical plots, crappy script and constant irritation it gives me. why does it have spastic nonsensical plots? well, today's episode has 1 really stupid bit of plot which i cant resist blasting. e original patriarch (hereafter called A coz i dunno his name) returns and asks e poor oppressed father (current husband of tian-jie) to arrange a meeting with his eldest son. apart from that, A also asked for a loan of 5million bucks(!). there is also a flashback which shows e both of them talking b4 e original makes off with another girl. what is really absurd is that A said "lofty aspirations eclipse everything". and why does he want 5million bucks? to migrate to australia and start anew. says all this while, he has been chasing his "aspirations" and his efforts have come to nought. so he wants to migrate coz he feels that 'this society owes him too much'. now isnt that one helluva load of bullshit? e scriptwriters must've either been pissed drunk or monkeys when they wrote that. he returns after up-and-going-off 30 years ago, leaving behind a family and a "best friend" as a scapegoat for his feigned death. that's something i really am unable to stand. what's more, he actually did so to "chase his aspirations". wad kind of irresponsible jackass is he? his "best friend" should have slapped him there and then. leaving behind a wife and 3 kids and making off with anothjer girl to chase 'dreams' (what i now deem castles in the air) is one of the most retarded things a HUSBAND and FATHER can do! like icing on the cake of stupidity, his request for 5million tops it all off. having failed in chasing castles in the air, he actually has the cheek to say 'society owes me too much'. come on, he was stupid enough to run off in the first place and now he's stuck in limbo, he fully deserves it! you reap what you sow and society doesnt deserve to repay stupidity. and 5 million is indeed an exhorbitant amount to migrate with. what is he going to do with the money? buy a huge house and car and lots of concubines? live it up? he shouldn't burden others coz he fucked up. this is 'beggar thy neighbour' in action. and his old sod of a friend actually agreed to procure the funds. i bet they're all senile already.

yet another thing about this show is how its dialogue irritates me. there is constant bickering and bitching and yelling and criticizing and begging. the chief sources of such speech is e scheming couple, daqiu and his wife. the former is trying to take over the fishball factory while the latter is trying to take over the house. they constantly throw their weight around and act like boor and biatch respectively. and daqiu's wife's mother's also irritating. typical money-grubbing gambling-addicted ah soh in spandex tights. but at least she could protect "mermaid" when tt shandong tried to rape her and felt that it was nothing wrong coz they were going to get married anyway (another spastic bit of nonsense). apparently, shandong was just a horny spoilt bastard tt threw tantrums whenever he couldnt get his way. dayang also annoys with his extremely limited vocabulary. "mei ren yu" is his punctuation. and he's e semi-mentally-handicapped character, created to generate sympathy coz of his absolute innocence and sincerity(is he capable of anything else, honestly?). and to complete e cast of brothers, there's a buaya, an ex-convict, a scriptwriter (what an oxymoron) and a psuedo-spiritual guru. complementing them are the blackmailing vixen (for a lack of a better word to describe a [sexually?] desperate, anorexic and mentally unsound girl), a rich bimbo, a truly innocent kindhearted heartlander, a hooker and vietnamese bride. governing them are a couple of weak-hearted but wise old sods and a robot (not really) who discovers love but runs away. as i read back on this, it just looks ridiculous. coupled with shoddy and nonsensical scripting, irritating dialogue(polylogue at times) and puddle-deep plots, can this not be a bomb?

of course, the acting isnt bad la. they played their scripted irritating persona very well. cynthia koh does it extremely well. terence cao's acting as an oppressed, tortured and guilty soul also was quite good.

nevertheless, the plot and scripting problems are soooo deeply-rooted that this show cant be saved. the only reason i actually watch it now is coz i wanna see where did ruan mianmian and ah hua run to.

yucks

FOP 2005

yo today got a few things to blog abt! haha... i went festival of praise last night. it was very crowded but good! delirious' songs were basically poppy and nice to listen. singing along to them a bit more difficult la. "history maker" was arguably their best song la. but all good still. the guy on the les paul was damn loud la. and i realised that a lot of young bassists nowadays use the EBMM stingray. it has a seriously solid low end sound and its sustain's hella good too. e hillsong crew did "salvation in here" among other things. had a gr8 time worshipping so freely. gave me more fire for God! oh the sermon was power. rev dye was good. we christians should be showing love to the unwanted like Jesus did instead of shunning them. it's the poor and forgotten who need saving, not those who are not. haha... oh i saw e same hot babe i 1st spotted at Synergiz again. this is my 3rd time. i think she attends PLMC. exotic looks! went for supper at afghanistan with isaac and ahdes. wah e prata was good. e milo dinosaur a bit heaty la but still managed to satisfy. reached home close to midnight. haha...

i played soccer again today. made my weekly pilgrimage to e field opposite greenview. we played a league system in the end with 8 a side. i was running e midfield and trying to create opportunities. guess i had nothing creative to show. haha... got tired damn fast. then this pair of xialan mats came to spoil everything. they just walked on the pitch and assumed that we allowed them to play. then one of e 'uncles' told them to go join e team waiting on e side. at first, they pretended they didnt hear. then e taller one mumbled "dowan la sia...". eventually, the uncles left, pissed off and chagrined, leaving us to play with the idiots. i'm still mystified as to why those idiots have e audacity to actually assume they were allowed to play. i din feel like playing after tt. lucky i had to leave early. dinner was at tastegood. wah so filled again.

tmr's national day celebrations. then a few days' holiday. hopefully it'll turn out to be productive!

friday

i've been mugging hard for e past few weeks already. almost finished wiv my physics syllabus. gonna start on my maths next week. i hope to finish all my mugging so i can go on to practicing. haha mugging is the word of the season now!

tmr's festival of praise! i hope it's gonna be good! haha...

i've been banging on my drums everyday now. hope there's some improvement. i've discovered mixing paradiddles a bit more and layering my beats. now it's just experimenting. seriously no time sia... haha...

national day coming soon. i told chris if u change the 'd' to a 'g', it'll sound many times more wrong.

oh there's been an obsession with the syllables found in my-best-friend Wei Hao. somehow, me ian and puustinen cant stop transforming words into sth with his name in it. Eg. "HAO many WEIS can you become a LEE scholar?". had to resort to playing a 'no-speak' game whereby if a person says a word with e aforementioned syllable in it, he gets whacked. lame...

oh check out my other blog for 2 new prawn jokes. it's somewhere in the pile of links to the left.

toodles! update soon!

just back from college day. ponned sch in the morning so i could rest and wake up late. went for lunch wiv 'ster, which involved eating my favourite pasta, then went to sch to mug from 2 to 5. had dinner wiv chris, then went back. college day was a real waste of my time. so much fanfare. it really was just for the awardees and guests to savour. most of us who were fortunate enough to be stuck in the hall could talk cock and do our own thing. those suay enuff to be in the PT could do nothing but sleep discretely, which of coz wld reflect badly on our college. hmm well supper wasnt tt bad. had a good meal wiv sai ho and chris. i actually had to teach this drinks stall proprietor what 'Milo Dinosaur' was abt! amazing man...

haha i notice got a lot of J1 babes living near me. pity i hardly see them when i go home. eye candy! haha...

anyway, i think i'll go sleep now. good night! enuff rubbish. tmr got soccer in the morning.

i am bothered...

ok its been 2 weeks since i've last posted and i must say troubling things (among others) have happened since. i've been rather edgy of late and i think it's beginning to be noticeable to others.

academically, im in a rut. 36.9 for physics coupled with a measly 43.7 for econs is just plain injustice. damned case study can go and fly kite la. scored a friggin 5 marks. things just went downhill after my econs MCQ. maybe i studied wrongly. and i din study for physics at all so i know i deserve that kind of grade. now i've gotta wake my ass up b4 i die. only consolation was a 63 for GP. my compre pulled me down rather hard. my content marks were a farce. and i got 0.5 for vocab. if my compo wasnt 35 (i was admittedly elated at this), i'd have torn both papers apart.

well, i'm also concerned abt wads going on between me and my friend(cant name for privacy reasons, but its somebody close to the heart). i've been feeling rather uncomfortable for e past few days about e state of our friendship. from my point of view, its rocky. as mentioned earlier, i've been on edge. as a result, she's been subject to my unreasonable outbursts. of course, she has a own problems too la so it's rather irresponsible of me to add to them. i'm gonna have to smoothen things wiv her b4 we drift apart, something i sure as hell do not wanna happen. the queer thing is tt i feel rather *jealous* when she talks abt this other guy and girl. man i hope it's not because im starting to fall for her. ah im confused. but one thing im sure abt is tt she means a hella lot to me and i hope we dont drift. i have to admit (i cant be bothered about denial coz it's just dumb), i've been a complete asshole to her so it's really MY FAULT.

ah tt being said, i can only hope God's watching.

on a lighter note, i've finished reading potter. SPOILERS AHEAD! I'm rather depressed abt the way dumbledore died. it's kinda odd now tt there's no more mercurial wizard left to fend of Voldemort. i wonder how the magical society will fare w/o him. and i admit snape killing him was a bit of a surprise. i expected it to be voldemort himself. i (like the majority of u) loathe snape too but i have to agree tt his role in this is beginning to look rather crucial than just being 'the asshole'. i think 'the asshole' belongs to draco malfoy. oh and i hope ron and hermione get together! it'll be soo sweet! haha... Harry breaking up with Ginny was so "Spiderman 2". apparently, Ginny's a hot babe so it'll be interesting to see how the actress playing her in the movies grows up. haha. overall, it was a good read with an ending that sets up the intro to the next book very easily. pity about the sombre ending. 4.5 stars. i took half a star off for the ending coz i din reeeeally like it this book's almost as good as the very 1st one, which i tot was the best!

Youth Sunday and sth else.

yo today my church celebrated Youth Sunday! the YM took over ushering for both services and worship for 11am. i played for e 11am worship session along wiv MK, isaac and daryl.

first, i shall talk about the tangible things. today's worship session was rather loud in comparison to regular 11am volume, which may be good or bad. we did songs which were vastly more energitic. example: One Way. of course, e majority of our youth (decked in e black YM tee) didn't respond in e way i envisioned, ie jumping like mad. maybe i expected too much? hmm... oh well. isaac told me he was going deaf coz MK's vol was all e way up during the last 4 songs. hur. i felt jittery at first, hence the cockups, which im sure were rather noticeable. i guess i got settled in only after playing It's All About Jesus. Only after playing Consuming Fire that i managed to whack without restraint and hesitance.

i felt it was a real blessing to be able to play on probably the best kit i assembled yet. of coz, i've sat at better kits than what i got today but i din assemble them. the sanctuary's Pearl set sounded damn good already so i just tweaked the heights and positions of the toms and snare. all cymbals available to me today were Zildjians so i guess i can be very happy. haha! i swapped out the (only) sabian splash for the existing A crash ride on the right. i kept the A medium ride where it was. in the place where the crash ride was, i put the titanium med-thin crash. to it's left, just above the hats was my own A thin crash. i swapped out the avedis newbeat hi-hat top for the titanium medium hat. i loved the sound so much more la! wetter and more cutting, tho maintaining it's percussive punch characteristic of this newbeat (which i admittedly dont like). i added my sweet ride on the right of the A med ride and placed Marvin's orange pearl snare next to my left leg to act as a picolo. of course, my DW7002 pedals were there. cannot forget them man! so, 3 cymbals each on my left and right, double pedals and 2 snares. the temptation to add an extra floor tom was present but i dismissed it. too much nonsense already. haha... disassembling was a chore too lor... but wah shiok man i tell u.

ok one thing i have to admit is that i was really focussed on the technical aspect of today. of course, i didn't TOTALLY forget the true purpose (ie. Worship God) of what i was playing for la but i inevitably 'back-seated' it. all i can do now is hope that my contribution to what One Voice did today was helpful in providing a good worship atmosphere for the congregation.

as for my skills, i feel that God has indeed blessed me with a great amount of potential, which i have tried to exploit. i think i've reached a level where my skills are good enough to tackle every song with minimal technical hitches. the issue now is whether my playing style fits what is required for church music. i have to say im happy with my playing style now but i do acknowledge the fact that other people may not. this can affect how well the music created can lead people to worship God. right now, all i do is pray that God gives me insight and that people give me (honest) opinions so i can play better. of course, if pple think i really suck, then maybe i should give up la.

i've got some issues to raise about One Voice. i think we need additional musicians to ease the burden on the so-called mainstays [note the bolding]. it's simply because the same bunch playing weekly , while breeding familiarity, does not help in the growth of our music ministry. simply put, talent is not being cultivated. isaac had a point when he said all this to me and i agree fully with him. i was admitted into the team with zero musical knowledge. that was 4 plus years ago. i can safely say i've improved VASTLY from then. isaac was better off when he entered. at least he had music classes and a guitar. i gad NOTHING. zero. a vacuum. both isaac and me are products of the talent-cultivation programme of the YM worship team, regardless of whether it was intentional or not. i feel that, and isaac was the first again to tell me this, that WE NEED NEW BLOOD. my take is that we need a new drummer, new singers and a new keyboardist. of course, we die die need a regular bassist coz we're simply using guitarists as bassists, which is not exactly the same. sure, the gestation period is long, but at least these 'newbies' will be at a better stage of preparedness when we move to the new chapel next year. i'm getting old and so everybody else in the team. new blood is needed. i can think of a few names. however, if so much as a spark of the will to serve isnt there, then there aint a point.

i just pray that God will send people to join and that MK will be open about this. coz, frankly, im sick of playing drums every week. i wanna play my bass... but nobody else play drums so i aint got a choice. and isaac told me he heard tt "we too pro", that's why nobody wanna join. lemme tell YOU that i'd rather let you play and let you gain experience and improve than i play and don't gain anything.

God bless you for reading so far. Sheldon out...

C for maths... and bitch fest

yo today i got back my math results for CT. a 61 aint tt gr8 la. but at least it's an improvement. i only got my econs MCQ back too. 20 upon 30.

ok yesterday was a long day admittedly. i met a quarter of 405'03 at orchard for lunch (NYDC). had to borrow $10 from jansen coz im going broke. the major culprit's my new iPod. it really put a huge dent in my finances. i got the STM iPod cocoon too. nvm my dire straits are only temporary (i hope). haha... im not saying e iPod aint worth it. it definitely is. i paid $468 for it. of coz, it's damn ex la but it's still relatively cheap for a 20G iPod photo. ok i digressed a lot. anyway, i met up with jessie at wisma arnd 1.30. then we went arnd town pulling off her errands. i had to kill time b4 meeting mich. i finally gave out all my cambodia gifts. i hope u like yours! ah got home legs aching. me and jess walked from city hall to suntec and then back all the way to cine. power eh? esther gave me a mild surprise when she called me and told me she "thought" she saw me, which turned out to be true.

ok bitch fest now. I HATE JC LIFE. tertiary education is one big mugging farce. suddenly, studying takes the highest priority and stress prevails. i've never felt as stressed before exams as i have in VJC. must be the academic environment. and when teachers say "the paper wasnt very difficult", i feel like punching them. so damn insensitive. i admittedly am one of e stupidest people in class la so of course i'd feel that way la. study for a month to spew forth a meagre C for maths. and some pple only did 2 to 3 day's work to get e same. which is really WTF. i remember cursing the entire math department during my math paper. i muttered stuff like "why the hell do they set such papers? to screw people over??"

and joining VJC soccer may have been one big mistake after all. i mean, dont consider the fact that i didnt make the team at all. the fact is, i was trying to fit in a place where i din at all. sure, they're great guys. but some of their banter aint up my street. so exclusion sets in. and i feel pissed off in almost every training session. why? coz of my performances. i feel that my performances in training are never up to par. and not to mention the sheer favouritism that mr tan (wittingly or unwittingly) practices. maybe it was really difficult for me to fit their style of play. not like i was relaxed whenever i had the ball. i don't know la. i became i better player in VJC but i think i would've been of better use in TPJC. no use reminiscing now.

*sigh* now i've to buckle down for prelims. school's one fucking big headache and so is the homework. i hope i don't stress out. JC life sux man, not to mention the fact that im still single. *sigh*

1 day b4 CTs...

hello it's e day b4 my CTs and im nervous coz i dunno how i'll do. i hope i dont fail stuff as badly as my results of last year. i've decided to put physics upon the altar of sacrifice. haha i hope my other subjects will be pleased.

i'm gonna get my PC fixed on friday. stupid power surge which screwed my mainboard and SATA hdd. sian. lost quite a bit of data there. lucky my other peripherals are still working.

i've been visiting the apple centre at Wheelock a few times already. i conclude that apple equipment are extremely cool looking and, like a friend of mine once said, is sex for the hands. the 30-inch HD Monitor and the PowerMacs and droolsome!! but buying both will set u back by about S$7000. expensive eh? iPod accessories are also ex. price bracket extends from $45 to $125. like, what the heck? $45 for a silicone casing, which effectively becomes an iPod condom. amazing i tell u.

i got stuff from Cambodia for only 3 people, of which 1 of them already got theirs. eh u know who you are. come get them fast k?

i gtg now. dinner time. i'll blog more about my mission trip once my other PC's back online. i miss it a lot. haha.

back from COSI

hello im back from COSI! it's been a wonderful trip once again compared to last year and i've had valuable experiences.

COSI beat HIS again but this time with only a goal scored by Gab, our foreign import. we didnt create many chances and HIS actually deserved to win. well, next year we'll know what to work on.

i was sick for every single day i was there. sore throat, fever and a severely blocked nose. whenever i blew my nose, mucus didnt come out. blood did. my sore throat was e biggest irritation coz it hampered my enjoyment of the combat rations and delicious COSI food.

i spent much more time with the COSI kids this time around. i watched TV with them, talked cock with them, played soccer (duh) with them and played guitar with them. i got to know their outlook on life a lot better. it kinda pricked my heart to know that they have such noble dreams but not very broad horizons to look forward to when they grow up. this is really reality staring at u.

many things happened on this trip. i'll blog more soon. ciao!

holidays

yo it's been another long period since i updated. the holidays have begun! i've been mugging and preparing for the mission trip. looking forward to it.

mugging in school's really productive. damn quiet and conducive. of course, there's e leadership camp happening in sch now tho and tt's where e noise comes from. going sch to mug again tmr. then play soccer in the evening. hurhur...

i watched Star Wars Episode 3 already. so-so movie la. not as great as e hype. at least it finishes the series. the graphics were damn good la i'll grant tt. and R2D2's funny.

eh gtg sleep now. if not tmr sure KO one.

hey hey! finally am free enough (or issit bothered enough) to update. hmm life's been ok i guess. slack or no slack. tt's basically it la. i've been starting to mug after sch already. dont wanna screw up my mids la.

NAPFA's over already. i got a gold. 27 points. thank God my 2.4 still under 10mins. im slowly ballooning now. but i dun really give a shite anymore anyways. of coz, i still do abs exercises la but no more "automatic jogging frenzies". hah. i'll become a fat SLOB with time to come. trust me. haha.

SMU visit.

Went to SMU today wiv my school as part of a small visit. the folks over at SMU expected around 20 but only 9 turned up. wth. refreshments were in excess sia. haha.

interesting stuff to learn about SMU is that they dont teach via the 'lecture - tutorial' style. they do it more like a seminar, sorta like the american style. it's pretty cool but i feel that each seminar class would be damn taxing la. imagine falling asleep in one lesson. wah, uber paisei. im definitely considering SMU as my uni choice. then again, there're only 2 unis to choose from la. well, leave it to God...

gtg now. econs essay beckons.

feelin looser already...

hello. i sank into another one of my "loser" moods today. source: the sight of A division soccer and knowing i could've been there playing for any other team wearing their jersey than stuck in the mud in VJC. sometimes i just feel pathetic. ever since i came to VJ, i've never played properly. of course, i do concede tt i've become a helluva much better player than i previously was. i just wish i had e opportunity to represent my college.

ah nvm. got plenty of other stuff to cheer abt.

gtg now. ciao!

hurhur...

yo long time since i updated. as u all know, i got kicked out of e soccer team. so i've been slacking a ton since then so my fitness has dropped like a stone in water. i cant finish a 4.8 run without stopping. sian. now i've become the soccer team's paparazzi. and i've become more absorbed in my work too. haha...

i've heard rumblings about me slowly turning snobbish. i hope that is not the case!

anyways, i've been playing CM a helluva lot nowadays. no life liao. haha. been practicing my drum rudiments a lot too. hope i can get better and faster.

gtg now. poisson distribution coming!

still sore

things have been ok so far since my dropping out from the soccer team. i realise that now i have a ton of free time to burn after sch sia. can mug and/or go out after that sia. of course, i still feel like an ultimate loser when i think of it. and sore about not making it to the team, especially when i feel like i deserve it. but wth la, shit happens in life and i guess i've gotta get on with it. i'll be rejoining training next week just for fun. i miss training like hell la.

screwed up phys SPA B today. spent 30mins doing practically nothing coz i didn't get any sane reading from e ammeter. then when i asked for assistance, my error was flipping e dial on e wrong fucking setting. pissifying. lucky i managed to finish e experiment in the nick of time. this SPA is down the drain. *middle finger*

As of today, I'm in VJC soccer no more. the A'div squad was chosen today and i wasnt among the 20. i feel upset of course but wth, no more training. can slack now. of course, i'll still go and join them although not on a daily basis any more la. but it's been great training with such a good team. pity i can't represent VJC altho i really want to.

i resent TAN YEW HWEE. he has my respect but not any form of friendship whatsoever.

nvm la wth. get on with life. gotta practice my drums and focus on my studies now. seeya guys.

Sheldon did this load of crap on 2005-03-29 at 9:09 p.m.

Hitch..

today was a fun day. since we were dismissed right after assembly, i went to watch Hitch with the rest of the class. had a mini meeting with e soccer guys b4 that where i learnt tt i was gonna play rightback instead of e expected centreback position.

Hitch was a blast. damn funny tho i almost fell asleep at one part. had a few parts which were really very cliche. got quite a few parts which made me laugh to bits tho. *sigh* if only it were so easy to get a girl.

we won e friendly 5 -0. but it shld've been 30-0 judging by the number of missed chances we had in the first half. i got kneed in e stomach and i fell square on my hip too. e injuries are piling up man. both my knees, my right glut and now my hip. oo the pain... may take tmr off training...

eh i gtg now. legs aching. cya!

Sheldon did this load of crap on 2005-03-07 at 9:02 p.m.

good week!

yo peeps. this week has been a good one for me! heh. training's been coming along pretty much fine. din miss a single one this week. wah monday was damn slack la. J1s had their collection of results so all we did was a bit of ball work. i missed 25 x 200 intervals on tuesday morn coz i din hav any free periods so i had to run 6k fartlag on wed. tues was ball work. only played well in e 2 sided game. had a couple of "trialees" too. tan said i was improving somehow. heh. thursday was 2 x 4.8. ran both under 23mins. slow. woke up this morning with my legs aching to hell. PE was fun. din sweat. softball la. mr wee was nice enuff to let us off 1 period early to play bball. i din join e guys. ate early, then shat. heh. training today was weights. now my hands are aching. but weights rules. gonna feel it tmr morning when i wake up.

auditions were on thurday. both bands didn't play that fantastically tho. my 1st band playing "hanging by a moment". had a couple of glitches but nth much else la. i played drums. forgot to cue joel into e instrumental. argh! my 2nd band played "harder to breathe". i always feel more liberated playing bass tho. din haf any technical cockups tho. both bands suffered from soft solos. but from wad i heard, e general consensus is that both my bands were e better ones, mainly coz we din sound messy and our vocals were better. hmm my organization and polishing paid off. hehe. i hope e both of us make it to e next round. there's so much nonsense i wanna try! and i wanna make sure our next performances DONT COCK UP!!! my bass was e most expensive instrument on show lor! even more expensive than e drums k? u gotta see e drums. crap is a mild adjective. if i dont make it, no face sia.

good news. im most probably starting my first ever friendly on monday against jjc. can whack that striker again. hehe. i hope i dun cock up sia. this is another chance coming my way.

oh i got my chinese AO results today too. C5. was flying after that.

gtg now. seeya!

busy busy

it's been a really packed 2 weeks for me so far, this week particularly, and i think it's gonna get even worse in e coming weeks too. why? training and jamming basically.

i've been improving as e weeks go by, only that i havent improved sufficiently. i know i can do much much better. i've taken to kicking ball in e basketball court early in the morning b4 sch to improve my 1st touch. my heading's deproved a bit so must train on that summore too.

im jamming coz music fest is comin up and im in TWO bands. sucking a helluva lot of my time but oh well. God's helping me along. tt's e best part abt it. i gotta love jamming tho. my 1st band's with zikai and e 2nd one's wiv yeekiat. 1st band's doin Hanging By A Moment and 2nd band's doin Harder to Breathe. e stupidity of my sch is dat nobody has a decent pedal collection! ok fine i noticed this fella with a multi-effects and DaoHua has a metal zone but dats abt all i've seen thus far. sian. borrowed daryl's sansAmp today so try and get arnd this problem. i hope to do some funny arrangements. i hope both my bands get into e finals sia.

oh i bought a 2nd hand pair of hihats from this ex-SAJC fella. good stuff. paiste 302 plus. it's in near mint condition too. paid $90 for it. aiyah anything beats my old Tama ones la.

ok gtg now. need to mug a bit of econs. *sigh* like it'll really happen in the end...

CNY period

yo it's been a helluva long time since i last updated. it's smack in e middle of chinese new year now and lotsa things happened inbetween, lotsa ups and downs i guess.

went to flor's house last sunday for e class bbq. food wasnt bad. too bad got no techno. e beef kebabs were great if they were properly cooked. and e fried rice was nice sia. and we met her dog pongo. quite obedient la. played mahjong too. won e last 2 rounds. i reached home at 10.30 that night.

today was e sch's cross country. ran but i stopped twice. managed to fulfill my target of a top 50 placing. 41st position. i had no idea of my timing tho. man i could've gotten a higher ranking if i didnt stop. considering that there're abt 700 guys running, 41st quite solid la. but still wasnt my best. had training after that. 4v4 and 3v1s. i need more 3v1 practices. need to work on my passing on e move. my passing's still like shit.

as for CNY, i collected quite a bit of angbaos. it was nice to see all my relatives but its still a pity that they seem distant, esp those daughters and sons of the more distant uncles. and i din see e only cousin to be in e same sch as me; Lydia. nvm dun see her also better. she's one of those freaky pple in sch who seem rather siao when they speak. like melodramatic speech. got relatives actually suggesting i wanna tackle her lor! din wanna seem rude in telling them to "fuck off" or make loud puking noises so i just said "where got sia...". NEVER would i consider even harbouring e faintest of sparks for her!!!

oh well i guess that's it for now. my friggin' comp is giving me problems. formatted it for e 4th time in 2 weeks yesterday. sianified. stupid clashes here and there. pissing me off only. software problems all over. cant maximise my hardware. sian.

Sheldon did this load of crap on 2005-02-11 at 9:27 p.m.

long time no see?

hey sorry for not updating for so long. i've been really busy for these past few weeks. here's an update on what's been happening.

i got my new drums from swindly last saturday. Tama StageStar. ultra cheap set which has cymbals included. the bass drum and snare sound solid for a cheapo set. but the cymbals SUCK. sound like milo tin lids. ugh. must get a new set of hihats and a crash soon. buay tahan. oh and e bass pedal sux too. e beater is angled too far back. and i, being a dumbass, dont know how to angle it forward. it's not an iron cobra mind u. just some cheap tama pedal. i'll get something like an iron cobra soon.

oh i played my 1st full half for vjc soccer on wednesday. pple say i played well but i think i was like shit. clearances all over e shop. all lacking direction.

my legs are aching now and i got a great sore throat too. argh.

sunday's ChIndian. im a station master in chinatown along with georgi. gonna be fun sia. hahaha.

well gtg now. updating soon!

played soccer wiv e senior PSFs today. rained but it was cooling! :D hehe i played CB. played like shit. we won 2-0 tho. e clean shee
